From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
