Intensive Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and dealt with problems to water systems, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southern area, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over the past few days, while officials has requested "concrete actions" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in providing protection systems and applying restrictions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A series of attacks struck power facilities and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A minor died and multiple civilians were injured.

The strikes succeed evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to destroy the national power system, with attacks already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and officials were anticipating additional strikes.
